My Story
Susan Peterson Interiors

I am Australian and have lived abroad for over 10 years. Back in Melbourne, I had an interior business for over 10 years and a small shop for 6 years in North Fitzroy called Empire Red Interiors. I helped my clients with their homes and offices. In London, I had a consultation business for several years but also worked in the industry in various roles assisting an Interior Designer, an operations manager for a furniture company and worked for a property developer in King's Cross.

I am a homebody, who loves everything creative from baking to ballet and playing my banjo. I also love helping people make their house their home. Your home should be a refuge, a safe space to relax and unwind. My style is eclectic I enjoy mixing old and new with highlights of colour. But designing and decorating is not about me. What is important is that your home is designed and organised to suit your personality and style. I love to create an interior that reflects what you love.

Having moved over 20 times, and lived in 4 major cities and 3 different countries, I know a little about setting up a home. I love being organised. I love the colour around me. A hint of retro, comfortable and quality furnishings is a must.

Your home should be your sanctuary. Your place to unwind, recharge and feel comfortable. It should also be a reflection of your personality and style. My interior consultant service is aimed at helping homeowners achieve this dream.

My 5 interior design tips

  1. Edit: remove and declutter things you don't love. Donate them to charity.
  2. Blend: mixing old and new is a favourite of mine. It adds more character to your room.
  3. Recover: If you have a favourite piece of furniture eg. a sofa. have it re-upholstered instead of throwing it out
  4. Renovate or rejuvenate: instead of always buying new you can have an old table re-sanded or repaired to renew it.
  5. Buy Second-hand: check your local stores or look online at Face Book marketplace or Blocket.se for vintage or retro pieces.
